JAIK is a youth club for students who belong to Hungarian minority living in Slovakia and studying in Bratislava. Since its establishment in 1964, the club has played a great role in the students´ life. During its regular meetings, the club organized several scientific presentations and entertaining evenings, discussed the current issues in public life to bring the students and local public intellectuals together. In the late sixties, the club published many publications in a periodical called Népművelés. The club was an active organizer of many summer youth camps, cycling tours and other activities, aiming to strengthen the connections among the Hungarians living in Slovakia. The club was left off in 1991, with university clubs taking over its role.

Presidents: Kajla Júlia (1964), Németh István (1965), Duray Miklós (1965), A. Nagy László (1968), Grendel Lajos (1970), Végh László (1971), Samarjay Zoltán (1972), Bába Ildikó (1974), Mihályi Molnár László (1975), Visehradszky Vilmos (1978), Molnár Imre (1979), Zobor Rozália (1980), Braunsteiner Glória (1981), Patus János (1984), Rudas Dóra (1985), Kosár Dezső (1986), Vörös Péter (1988), Somogyi Alfréd (1989), Kosár Dezső (1989-1991).

After 1991, the organization called Diákhálózat took the charge over the interests of students in Bratislava, while nearly a dozen of faculties established their own youth clubs. This change in organizational structure evolved to a specific situation, when the interests of Hungarian students have been protected by a nationwide youth organization and its smaller youth clubs. PASZ was an unregistered institution which stood above the youth clubs, but the vast majority of the students have never even known about its existence. This fact initiated the leaders of the clubs to strategic changes: to stabilize the position of PASZ and to set up an organization on the field of law. A bunch of students in 2008 have decided to reestablish the JAIK, which was abolished almost 20 years before, but it´s legacy and spirit lived further. The former members and students are still looking back on their small club with irreplacable memories, and the current students are showing great amount of respect to their predecessors. The primary aim of the new team is to renew the status of the club as an important core of students´ social life. This effort, beside the organized parties, includes several other cultural activities, for instance performances, discussions, exhibitions etc. These activities have one common goal: to maintain a youth club, that can be a proud representative of Hungarian students, and to build an organization which the students would be glad to be a part of. We would like to unite the students, to feel and act as a community, to let them know how to enjoy the time spent together, to live social life in our native language, to make new friends, to dream a brighter future and to make it true together.
